Veneers are thin shells of material that Dr. Martin will bond to the front side of imperfect teeth. They are an excellent way to correct a number of smile flaws, including chips, cracks, stains, small gaps, crooked teeth, worn teeth, and misshapen teeth. He will work with you to decide which type of veneers will work best for your situation.
Our veneers fall into two basic categories:
- Standard Veneers – While extremely thin, standard veneers usually require us to remove a small amount of tooth enamel before placing them. This procedure shouldn’t cause you any discomfort. We can numb you with local anesthesia, if desired.
- Prepless Veneers – These veneers are even thinner than standard veneers and are generally placed without having to remove any tooth enamel. If these veneers need to be removed in the future, there is minimal impact on your natural teeth.
Standard veneers are usually crafted from beautiful porcelain to closely mimic the light-reflecting qualities of your natural teeth. For prepless veneers, we often use Lumineers, which are made from cerinate porcelain, or e.max veneers, which are made from lithium disilicate.
Both types of veneers are thin and durable and will give your smile a beautiful, lifelike appearance. All of our veneers should last for many years if cared for properly. Standard veneers do typically last a bit longer than prepless ones.
